About Kane Diep

Kane Diep is a film director. Kane is currently directing a feature documentary called Uploaded: The Asian American Movement which explores the ways in which young Asian Americans have utilized new media platforms to increase visibility. Uploaded is an official selection at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and has also been covered by the New York Times, International Examiner, and AngryAsianMan. Kane has also directed two shorts Slurp (2010) and Le Retour (2011) which premiered the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Kane’s short Lonely (2011) selected for the UCSD’s Up & Coming Film Festival also made it’s televised premiere in the PBS Shorts Showcase program.

Kane’s past experience include managing a modern music and performance venue called The Loft where he produced a concert series titled Luminance consisting of 8 shows in 2 years which began in 2009 featuring a total of 31 artists. Luminance showcased popular up and coming Asian American singer songwriters including AJ Rafael, Marie Digby, Clara C, Legaci and more. Kane also has a background in dance and has performed everywhere from Carnival: Choreographer’s Ball in Los Angeles to UC San Diego’s SunGod Festival.

Kane has also taught workshops and spoke on panels at Universities throughout the nation including Princeton University, UC Irvine, and New York University. Kane Diep graduated UC San Diego with a Visual Arts Media: Film and Digital Cinema degree as well as extended his studies in directing and cinematography at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
