A project I am working on is a club party at the venue I work at called the Loft located on the UC San Diego campus. I’ve worked here since the opening of the venue and noticed that one of the crowds that is missing at the Loft are the clubbing/hip-hop/partying crowd. So thats why I am planning a series of club-vibe like parties here called “Eclipse.”
The first of these nights is Friday, January 16th, 2009. ONE week after we come back from school. I expect to kick promotion in full gear once school starts on Monday to try and get as many people here as I can. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping to get at least 200-300 people here opening night. The DJ is good and is a local from San Diego. We’ll be playing sick music from the Top 40s and freshest urban hip-hop music.
The next night I will be running an Eclipse event is on Friday, February 27th with a collaboration with the Ascension Hip-Hop Dance Team as hosts of the night and headline performer. I hope the Eclipse series will jump start a following that adds to the already established punk, alternative, folk vibe @ the Loft. Because the Loft is truly a sick venue with so much potential and I fully believe in its goal and purpose. Students always want to make UC San Diego a more social place, heres our chance. The more people that come the more Eclipses will occur.
Please come and invite your friends. Free to all UC San Diego students with I.D. cards and each student is allowed one non-student guest. Remember, always dress to impress. You never know who you might meet that night.
Doors open at 9PM closes at 2AM.
